Current Students

University of Waterloo is the sixth largest university in Ontario, with an enrolment of approximately 26,450 full-time undergraduate and 3,505 full-time graduate students. When part-time and distance education students are added, the total number of students is approximately 32,505. Federation of Students is the voice for all University of Waterloo students. The Feds are led by a group of executive members that are elected each year by the student body. It is the role of the Feds to provide services (Food Bank, Campus Response Team, GLOW - The Queer and Questioning Community Centre , Woman’s Centre, UW Sustainability Project, Off Campus Dons) and activities that serve, empower, and represent the student body. The Graduate Student Association is the official representative for all graduate students at the University of Waterloo. The mission of the GSA is that it “shall act to stimulate social, intellectual, and political contact among its members." The GSA also plans activities such as Welcome Week and Grad Stock for all grad students. For more information, please visit their website at www.gsa.uwaterloo.ca

The Registrar’s Office provides administrative services to all students in a number of areas. You can request transcripts, drop off course override forms and much more at the Registrar's Office. The Quest Support Desk is also located in the Registrar’s Office. Quest is the Student Information System where all students enrol in their courses, check their fee statements, view their marks and print off their unofficial transcript.

The Student Awards Office provides students with an opportunity to have adequate financial assistance to complete their studies. This office provides students with access to resources to meet their needs as assessed by OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) or a comparable Canadian government student aid program. Student Awards also provides students with the opportunity to apply for several different bursaries and scholarships offered through different departments at the university.

The Student Accounts Office (NH 1110) provides information related to your financial account with the University of Waterloo. You may also visit this office to make payments, submit Promissory Notes and UHIP application forms, pick up your UHIP card and make changes to your UHIP coverage.

There are nine separate libraries run by the Library at the University of Waterloo. The two largest are Dana Porter and the Davis Centre. The libraries host workshops throughout the term to help students learn the best ways of researching a paper, how to find materials online, and how to use the PRIMO system.
